Sri Lanka Tourism Conducts International Tourism Forum Held in Colombo

Sri Lanka Tourism Promotion Bureau on Thursday(14th) held the biggest international tourism forum ever to be conducted in the country in parallel to the ongoing Commonwealth Summit in the Island with 150 travel and tour operators and 40 journalists from 14 countries taking part in the event, which was held in Battaramulla during the morning hours of Thursday.

The visiting travel and tour operators apart from attending the forum also held B2B meetings with over 160 local leisure sector operators. The group who will be in the country for five days will also make a visit to ‘Reflections of Sri Lanka Trade, Tourism and Investment’ forum, currently underway at the ‘Reflections of Sri Lanka exhibition Center ‘ in Battaramulla. The travel and tour operator group along with the visiting journalists are expected to go on familiarization tours across the country to witness the island’s tourism attractions.

Tourism Forum organized under the guidance of the Minister of Economic Development Hon.Basil Rajapaksa and the forum will be a vital tool for the local tourism industry to build international links to attract business opportunities toward reaching the goal of 2.5 million tourists per annum by 2016.

Sri Lanka Tourism says the forum has also helped to build the Island’s tourism sectors image and potential to the global stage.

Russia,Belrus, Ukraine, U.K., India, China, Singapore, Malaysia, Philippine, South Korea, Japan, Saudi Arabia , UAE and Sri Lanka.
